Baby You're a Firework

Our family absolutely LOVES the Fourth of July!Just as soon as school lets out, up goes the RED, WHITE, and BLUE. My decorations are inexpensive and simple, and I try to add something new each year. I made the pennant garland with fabric and double-fold bias tape about five years ago for my back patio at the Westmoreland house. I love how they work on the new front porch.

Also, several years ago on a road trip, I brought along a pack of Sharpie markers and some scraps of canvas. This is a super fun project for kids.

This year I found these cute burlap bows at Walmart to put on the wreaths I already had. Not too shabby for under ten bucks!

Because of the abundance of old barn wood scraps from the barn restoration, I wanted to mark this year with a project using some the wood. I already had the paint, wire and nails, and this is what I came up with. It definitely puts the "FREE" in FREEDOM!

Now, I want to see how you all show your PATRIOTISM. LET FREEDOM RING and post your pictures in the comments below. Whether it's your porch, table decoration, door hanging, or whatever, JUST SHARE!

BIG BARN UPDATE COMING NEXT WEEK!

Farmhouse Facelift

Whitewash is simply a mixture of lime and water that was painted on houses, barns and outbuildings as a cheap and easy way to make them look attractive and clean, while providing an antibacterial finish that was resistant to mold, mildew, and weathering.

Sweet Sixteen

On December 31st, our baby girl turned 16! It doesn't seem possible, but the gray hair and wrinkles tell me it's true. For her birthday gift, she asked if we could please, finally, finish her bedroom.
